Mass. Hockey's girls festival is upon us.
In all, 224 players across the 2009, 2010 and 2011 birth years will take the ice at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Mass., this weekend. They’ll battle for spots in the Final 40, which will be at the NESC from May 16-17.
The ’09s and ’10s will compete for spots at National 16/17 Camp, as well as the Under-18 Women’s National Team Festival. The ’11s will compete for spots at National 15 Camp and the U18 WNT Festival. They’ll also be eligible for the Eastern 15 Camp.
For many of the uncommitted ’09s and ’10s, it’s another chance to boost their stock, whether they’re rising seniors or juniors. The rising juniors, specifically, will become eligible to commit this summer.
We’ll focus on rising seniors and juniors in this article. I also could've easily named well over 30 players, but there are word counts to consider.
Here are 25 uncommitted ’09s and ’10 skaters to watch at Mass. Hockey's girls festival.
Tatum Friedholm
Groton/Boston Americans, 08/2009, D, left shot, 5-10
Hometown: Sudbury, Mass.
Friedholm had 13 points (two goals) as a junior after 12 points (two goals) as a sophomore, but she took a big step for Groton this past season. The rising senior was a force in all three zones with her quick decision-making at the point and hard-nosed defensive play, especially in the postseason.

Nora Shea
Nobles/East Coast Wizards, 08/2009, D, left shot
Hometown: Braintree, Mass.
Shea took a massive step this season as one of the NEPSAC's highest-scoring defenders, posting 29 points (nine goals) as a sophomore after nine points (three goals) as a freshman. The rising junior uses her reach to her advantage and can lead the rush effectively.
Brooke Carlson
Governor’s/Valley Junior Warriors, 01/2009, F, left shot, 5-8
Hometown: North Andover, Mass.
Carlson has had back-to-back 30-point seasons in prep, posting 21 goals (nine assists) as a sophomore after 14 goals (16 assists) as a freshman. She has a promising blend of size and skill that helps her create quality chances.
Megan Carlson
Governor’s/Valley Junior Warriors, 01/2009, D, left shot, 5-7
Hometown: North Andover, Mass.
Carlson has had two productive seasons on Gov's blue line, coming off a 15-point, four-goal sophomore campaign. The rising junior has good vision in the neutral zone and at the offensive blue line.

Alexa Georgantas
Shattuck-St. Mary’s, 6/3/2009, F, left shot, 5-3
Hometown: Foxboro, Mass.
A year removed from finishing as one of the top scorers in prep with 41 points (21 goals), Georgantas posted 27 points (11 goals) in 57 games during her first year with Shattuck. Her speed gives her a leg up offensively.
Reese Engel
Nobles/Boston Americans, 06/2009, D, left shot, 5-7
Hometown: Westwood, Mass.
After 11 points (one goal) as a freshman, Engel put up 19 points (three goals) as a sophomore with Nobles. The rangy blue-liner is big, strong and hard to play against in her own end.
Georgia Murray
Bishop Feehan/Massachusetts Spitfires, 2009, F, right shot
Hometown: North Attleboro, Mass.
Murray became Bishop Feehan's all-time leading scorer this past season with 120 career points. She had 39 points (24 goals) as a junior, following a program record 58 points (22 goals) as a sophomore. The center is a poised playmaker who elevates her linemates.

Mia MacDonald
Rivers/Boston Americans, 06/2009, D, right shot, 5-5
Hometown: Walpole, Mass.
MacDonald is confident with the puck on her stick and consistently drives transition herself. She posted eight points (three goals) when she was healthy this season, following 18 points (six goals) as a freshman.
Maddy Call
Thayer/Boston Americans, 02/2009, F, left shot, 5-5
Hometown: Dedham, Mass.
Call is a high-energy player who can make an impact everywhere on the ice. She led Thayer with 43 points (24 goals) as a sophomore this past season, following 22 points (nine goals) the year prior.
Lydia Kealty
Thayer/Boston Junior Eagles, 02/2010, F, left shot, 5-8
Hometown: Norfolk, Mass.
Kealty has gotten better every year at Thayer, posting 18 goals and 37 points as a sophomore after a 19-point, 13-goal freshman season. She gets to middle ice and has a heavy shot.

Maggie Chudzinski
Dexter Southfield/Boston Junior Eagles, 4/3/2010, D, right shot, 5-8
Hometown: Needham, Mass.
After eight points (three goals) as a freshman, Chudzinski put up 17 points (nine goals) this season. The rising junior can drive transition and handle heavy minutes.
Lana Hardin
Governor's/Valley Junior Warriors, 2009, F, right shot
Hometown: Tyngsboro, Mass.
Hardin, who had 20 points (eight goals) as a junior, has posted three productive seasons at Gov's, including back-to-back seasons with at least 20 points. Hardin has high offensive awareness and plays with plenty of pace and energy.
Clara Ryan
Milton Academy/Massachusetts Spitfires, 2009, D, left shot, 5-8
Hometown: Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Ryan hasn't put up huge numbers in prep, but she has still impressed both with Milton and the Spitfires. The rising junior is effective in all three zones with her size and reach, and she can create offense from the point.

Bella Freitas
Cushing/East Coast Wizards, 8/12/2009, F, right shot, 5-7
Hometown: Everett, Mass.
Freitas has been one of the top goal-scorers in prep over the last two seasons, posting 23 (31 points) as a sophomore after 25 (43 points) as a freshman. She can take over shifts and has an accurate shot.
Sienna Glass
Phillips Andover/Valley Junior Warriors, 2/10/2009, D, right shot, 5-6
Hometown: Andover, Mass.
Glass had a career season with Andover, posting 18 points (six goals), which tripled her previous best for points. The rising senior has improved a ton over the last year-plus, and she makes quick decisions with the puck.
Lexi Drevitch
NAHA, 2009, D, left shot
Hometown: Middleboro, Mass.
Drevitch had 11 points (two goals) for NAHA's 16U squad this season. The blue-liner is a slick skater who can make plays in transition.

Zoe Smith
Groton/Boston Americans, 08/2009, F, right shot, 5-6
Hometown: Bolton, Mass.
Smith had her best season yet for Groton with a career-best 13 points and eight goals en route to a title. The rising junior is hard to knock off pucks, which helps her create space for herself in the offensive zone.
Giuliana Polcari
Tabor/East Coast Wizards, 7/7/2010, F, left shot, 5-7
Hometown: Marshfield, Mass.
Polcari has been among Tabor's top producers in each of her two prep seasons, posting 17 points (10 goals) as a sophomore. The rising junior has an intriguing blend of power and skill.
Caroline Kreuz
St. Mark's/Boston Junior Eagles, 04/2010, F, right shot, 5-4
Hometown: Worcester, Mass.
Kreuz shattered her freshman year output with a 14-point (four-goal) season on a younger St. Mark's squad. The rising junior feeds off her linemates well and has strong offensive instincts.

Francie Ames
Nobles/Boston Americans, 5/25/2010, F, right shot, 5-7
Hometown: Brookline, Mass.
After driving play for the Boston Americans last fall, Ames kept it rolling into a sensational prep season with Nobles. She was far and away the NEPSAC's leading scorer this season with 65 points (26 goals) in 30 games.
Ava Carr
Williston Northampton/Bay State Breakers, 4/28/2010, F, right shot, 5-4
Hometown: Medway, Mass.
Carr had a breakout season as a sophomore at Williston, putting up 18 points (seven goals) and shattering her freshman season totals. She plays with pace and makes quick decisions with the puck.
Ella Skeiber
Williston Northampton/Bay State Breakers, 03/2010, F, left shot
Hometown: Pembroke, Mass.
Skeiber has had two solid seasons in a depth role with Williston, posting nine points (one goal) as a freshman before seven points (two goals) as a sophomore. She works well off the cycle in the attacking zone and has solid hands.

Simone Burns
Rivers/Boston Americans, 05/2009, F, left shot, 5-4
Hometown: Winchester, Mass.
Burns has posted back-to-back 20-plus-point seasons at Rivers, and she's coming off her best year yet with 18 goals and 25 points. The rising junior is a shifty skater with good vision for the ice.
Maddy Humber
St. Paul’s/Assabet Valley, 06/2010, D, left shot, 5-9
Hometown: Concord, Mass.
After a productive freshman season, Humber was one of the highest-producing defenders in prep this season with 24 points (five goals). The rising junior pushes the pace in transition.
Abbey Deroeve
St. Mark's/Boston Americans, 06/2009, D, left shot
Hometown: Charlestown, Mass.
After transferring from Thayer, Deroeve had 11 points (two goals) on St. Mark's blue line. The rising junior is physical and likes to activate into the play.
