Prep hockey, high school hockey and USA Hockey Nationals are now well behind us. That means one of the biggest events of the offseason calendar is around the corner.
Mass. Hockey's girls festival will take place next weekend, featuring some of the top players in the state across the 2009, 2010 and 2011 birth years.
In all, 224 players will take the ice at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Mass., from April 24-26. They'll battle for spots in the Final 40, which will be at the NESC from May 16-17.
The ’09s and ’10s will compete for spots at National 16/17 Camp, as well as the Under-18 Women’s National Team Festival. The ’11s will compete for spots at National 15 Camp and the U18 WNT Festival. They'll also be eligible for the Eastern 15 Camp.
National 16/17 Camp will be held at Miami University (Ohio) from July 13-16, and National 15 Camp will be at Miami (Ohio) from July 19-24. National 15 Goalie Camp will be July 17-19 at Miami (Ohio), too. As for the U18 WNT Festival, that will be August 2-9 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Mass. Hockey's festival also coincides with the Girls 14 Eastern Select Camp Tryout at the NESC on April 25, which introduces the '12s to the 2027 USA Hockey national camp process. Players selected from that tryout will compete at the Girls 14 Eastern Select Development Camp at Saint Anselm in June.
Massachusetts is a separate region from New England (which comprises Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) for USA Hockey. The New England District tryouts will occur April 17-19 at the NESC. Those rosters feature a total of 304 players across the '09s, '10s, '11s and '12s.
