In the first week back for every New England boys prep hockey team, the scoring was high. It feels like there are more names in this story than usual.
Especially among independent schools. Woah.
As we enter the dog days of the season, there are fewer tournaments and more two-game weeks, making it even more pivotal for top players to shine.
The fun part: Some new names got recognition this week.

Top skater: Drew Gallucci, Pingree
While someone else technically had more points, and I like to pick players who produce in more than one game, Gallucci had an incredible showing in Pingree's 5-4 upset win over Holderness. He scored a hat trick, including two in the third period, and he registered two assists, factoring into all five goals.

Bourassa had a nice week for Kents Hill, making 25 saves on 27 shots to tie Pingree, 2-2, and turned away 37 of 40 shots in a 4-2 loss to New Hampton. He carries a .905 save percentage as a senior.

Top skater: Lucas Husted-Edwards, Kent
Husted-Edwards had a big first two games after returning from the holiday break. He notched two assists in a 7-4 loss to Loomis Chaffee before posting two goals and two helpers in a 9-3 victory against Millbrook. Husted-Edwards is having a fantastic season with 18 points in 11 games.

Johnson continued his strong season with a 23-save performance to beat Millbrook, 2-1, and a 21-save day against St. Paul's to win 4-2. The '08 carries a 1.36 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage.

ISL Eberhart
Top skater: Luke Sardone, Middlesex
The junior forward had a great week for Middlesex, tallying a goal and two assists to tie Thayer, 4-4, before registering a goal in a 5-2 win over Proctor. Through seven games played, Sardone has four goals and 12 points.

DiModica had a busy return from the holiday break. It started by making 43 saves on 47 shots in a 6-2 loss to St. Paul's. He made 40 saves in a 2-1 loss to Phillips Exeter the next night, before stopping 24 shots to beat Brooks, 5-2, on Saturday. He carries a 2.38 GAA and a .927 save percentage this season.

ISL Keller
Top skater: Billy MacAusland, Nobles
No question about it: MacAusland went Sicko Mode over the last week, leading Nobles to two huge wins: a 4-1 victory against St. Sebastian's and a 5-3 triumph over Thayer. The Brown commit potted two goals and added an assist against Seb's before going off for two tallies and three helpers against Thayer. He's up to 10 goals and 25 points in 12 games.

Gov's is firmly in the Elite 8 conversation, and Heaslip has been a big part of that. He made 28 saves to take down Rivers, 4-1, and made 27 stops to beat New Hampton, 5-3. Heaslip, an '08 junior, has a 2.04 GAA and a .923 save percentage.

Top skater: Josh Phillips, Kimball Union
Kimball Union played four times last week, beating New Hampton (4-0) before going 2-1-0 at the GameSheet Prep Cup. After registering an assist against New Hampton, he posted a goal and a helper against Northwood, a hat trick and an assist against Nichols and another goal in the win over South Kent. He has 28 points in 17 games.

Top skater: Tommy Browne, Canterbury
While Charlie Puglisi had one more point, I'm giving the edge to the Canterbury defenseman. Browne scored the OT winner (and registered an assist) to beat Williston Northampton, 3-2, on Wednesday. He followed that up with a hat trick and another assist in a 7-1 drubbing of Lawrence Academy. Browne, a senior '07 defenseman, ranks second in the region in points for a defenseman.

Schnarr started all three games for Frederick Gunn in the GameSheet Prep Cup. He made 18 saves to beat St. Andrew's College, 5-4, before logging two straight starts with more than 40 saves. He turned aside 45 shots in a 4-3 OT loss to Salisbury, and then made 42 saves on 45 shots in a 3-2 loss to Northwood. Schnarr has a 2.76 GAA and a .913 save percentage on the season.
