It's been just under five months since our first Top 50 rankings.
It was my first time ranking players by birth year. As fun as it was, it was equally, if not more, difficult. Now, it's time for Part 2.
The first time around, we ranked the Top 50 ’07s, ’08s and ’09s, and did a 30-player watch list for the ’10s. Part 2 will be a little different. Many of the ’07s and ’08s have moved on to the collegiate ranks, so we’re going to pause those for now.
It's been a big summer for the '09s and '10s, especially since many became eligible to commit to college programs on June 15. It'll be the first time we rank the '10s, and we'll have a watchlist for the '11s.
Plenty has changed since our first set of rankings. Many '09s moved up after strong showings at USA Hockey's national select camps or the Mass. and New England District festivals.
We're only ranking New England natives and those playing in the region this coming season. For example, former Williston Northampton forward Brooke Schlutter fell out of the Top 50 because she is not a New England native and will be playing outside the region at Shattuck-St. Mary's this winter.
BEST OF NEW ENGLAND: Our first Top 50 '09s from April
We know of a few non-New Englanders arriving for prep and full-season academy teams this season, but we don’t know all of them. There will surely be breakout ’09s in prep this coming season who find their way into our rankings.

Top 10 notes:Â The top six remain the same from our previous rankings. Daley, entering her senior season at Shattuck-St. Mary's, is fresh off captaining Team USA at the Under-18 Series. The biggest mover in this crop of the rankings is Call. She followed a massive breakout at Thayer with standout showings at Mass. Hockey Festival and USA Hockey's Women's Under-18 National Festival, parlaying it into a nod on the U18 Select roster and a commitment to Harvard. Monter leapt into the top 10, too. The detailed, speedy forward also made the U18 Select roster out of the U18 Festival. She and Lovell Academy teammates Taylor, Lovell and Stoughton are set to advance from the 16U to the 19U squad this fall.

11-20 notes:Â There's some more movement to note in this group. Georgantas, a recent Harvard commit, was a standout at Mass. Festival and the Under-18 Festival. Meanwhile, Engel is one of the biggest movers. The recent Princeton commit has built momentum from the spring to the summer, making the U18 Select roster after impressing at the U18 Festival. Orizotti rose significantly. After putting up over two points per game at Winchendon last season, the recent Harvard commit made the U18 Select roster as well. Two other defenders, Glass and Sciarretta, continue to ascend, cracking the top 20 as they're set up for strong fall and prep seasons. Burns and Karsh were among the top scorers at 16/17 Camp.

21-30 notes: The biggest movers here are Brooke Carlson, who leapfrogged twin sister Megan, with an impressive spring at Mass. Hockey Festival. Each made 16/17 Camp. Wilson surged after parlaying a strong New England Festival and 16/17 Camp into a spot at the Under-18 Women's Festival, where she continued her stout form. The recent Dartmouth commit is now the top-ranked '09 goalie. Macaulay, a recent Clarkson commit, moved up quite a bit, too. She made 16/17 Camp. MacDonald, Landsverk, Allen and Gilshannon will be immensely important pieces to their respective prep teams this winter. Friedholm showed well at the Beantown Classic in July. Going into her senior season, she's a top uncommitted defender to watch in prep.

31-40 notes: Gould is the highest addition to the rankings. The recent Boston University commit will be a cornerstone of Williston's blue line this winter. Waara moved up. The productive blue-liner put up good numbers at 16/17 Camp. Harrington's stock is also on the rise after earning a spot at 16/17 Camp. Gray jumped into this tier of the rankings after impressing at Mass. Hockey Festival. Her slick hands should help her be an even bigger scoring and playmaking threat entering her sophomore season at St. Mark's. Hosman has the chance to take over starting duties at Loomis Chaffee this winter, while Sauls, Hardin and Ogunnupe will be critical upperclassmen for their respective sides.

41-50 notes:Â This is where many of the newest additions to the rankings landed. Many could continue to ascend as we progress into the fall and the winter. Charron is the highest newcomer. She is in line to be a leader on Choate's blue line, and her skating and puck-moving ability made her one of the better defenders at the New England District camp in the spring. The same goes for Metcalf at the New England camp, where her reach defensively and poise with the puck helped her stand out. She carried the momentum into the summer as well. Miller, who was a standout at the Mass. Festival, will add a dynamic presence to Winchendon's back end, while Matusovich continues to ascend with her defensive play, earning a nod to 16/17 Camp. Marsala also reached 16/17 Camp after a wildly productive year at Winchendon. She's off to MAI for her senior season. Fitzpatrick impressed with her two-way play and decision-making at Mass. Hockey Festival.
