On Saturday, the Green Bay Gamblers announced they tendered Cotter, who was a star defenseman for St. Mark's this past season as a freshman. A tender means that the prospect will play for that team the following season.
The Marlboro, Mass., native had five goals and 22 points in 30 games for the Lions. The '10 got noticeably better throughout the season, culminating in having the best game of any Lion in their Elite 8 championship loss to Avon Old Farms.
Cotter, who is 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, is known for his outstanding skating. He has elite edges and generates speed quickly, which usually results in effective rushes with the puck. In the offensive zone, he's a fantastic puck mover who can easily find the open man.
He's underrated in the defensive zone. His skating allows him to have good gaps and stay on top of players. He's physical, too.
Cotter is coming off a strong showing at the QMJHL Cup, which was a showcase for the top QMJHL-eligible prospects for the draft. He had a goal and three points in four games.
