Kyle Wallack will be named the first head coach in program history at Albertus Magnus, according to multiple sources. The Division 3 school has announced a formal press conference to be held Monday.
The New Haven, Conn., college announced plans in April to start a varsity hockey program beginning with the 2019-20 season.
Wallack, a West Hartford, Conn., native, just finished his sixth season as an assistant coach at Vermont. Prior to his time in Burlington, he was the head coach and general manager for the now-defunct Indiana Ice of the USHL for one season.
Wallack’s previous assistant coaching experience included five seasons at Yale, two years at each Holy Cross and UConn, and three years at Quinnipiac. While at Yale, Wallack helped lay the groundwork for the Bulldogs' first-ever national title in 2013. A goaltender in his playing days, Wallack played at Springfield College.
Vermont head coach Kevin Sneddon will now be tasked with replacing his chief recruiter. Kevin Patrick is the program’s other assistant.
