The Tenney Cup is always one of, if not the, premier regular-season events on the Massachusetts girls high school hockey calendar.
That was especially true this season.
Entering the tournament, seven of the eight teams in the field were in our top 10, including four in the top five.
So, it should hardly be a surprise to see how much the tournament flipped this week's round of rankings on its head. Not a single spot in the top 10 remains the same from our last ranking from Dec. 19. Two new teams entered the top five, and two others entered the top 10 for the first time, among other movement.
Some of the most notable movers included Duxbury, winners of the Tenney Cup title over Milton, which also surged. Haverhill/Pentucket/North Andover continued to roll, while St. Mary's, Westwood and Pembroke were rewarded for dominant starts to their seasons.
Needless to say, there's a lot to get to. This was a fun week to unpack.
Let's dive into our first MIAA girls top 10 of 2026.

Next game: vs. Nauset/Monomoy, Jan. 7, 5:20 p.m.
Duxbury took over the top spot after going 3-1-1 since our last ranking, including an undefeated 2-0-1 showing at the Tenney Cup. The Dragons rolled to a 3-1 win over Milton in a highly anticipated championship bout, behind a goal and an assist for Addy Harrington and a shutout for Brooklyn Metzler. Harrington also scored in double overtime in what was technically a 0-0 tie against Notre Dame (Hingham) in the semis. A 4-0 win over Plymouth and a 6-1 win over Sandwich bookended a 1-0 loss to Norwell/Scituate/Abington. Harrington also had a goal and an assist against Plymouth and Sandwich. She and Shae Martin have been unstoppable together on a line. The Dragons will look to keep rolling in a test against Nauset/Monomoy next week.

The Red Rangers slid up one spot as they stayed undefeated, rattling off three more wins since the last top 10. Lyla Chapman had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Andover, and Sammy and Lauren Ryan powered a 2-1 win at Winchester. After each scored against Andover, Sophia Barbosa and Ella Duffy led the comeback in a 2-1 win over Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading. A busy week is ahead for Methuen/Tekwsbury, which will visit Central Catholic before hosting Masconomet and HPNA.
3. Milton (5-1-0)

Next game: vs. Braintree, Jan. 3, 6 p.m.
The Wildcats surged into the top three after a fantastic showing at the Tenney Cup. Milton even had a shot at the No. 1 spot before falling to Duxbury in the final. Nevertheless, the Wildcats are firing on all cylinders right now, winning five in a row before the Duxbury loss. The Wildcats have posted four or more goals in each of their wins, too, including a dominant 6-2 showing against former No. 1 Hingham and a 4-3 win over former No. 9 Bishop Feehan. They'll look to get back into the win column against Braintree before a key tilt with Natick. Youngsters Mia Cataruzolo and Maeve Lovett have come on strong. Cataruzolo had a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Martha's Vineyard, two goals against Hingham and two goals against Feehan. Lovett scored in a 5-0 win over Weymouth and against MV. Top scorer Sabrina Stone also had four goals against Hingham on top of goals against Feehan and Weymouth.

The Harborwomen slipped after a 4-1-1 stretch since the last rankings, including a 2-1-0 Tenney Cup. Hingham shut out Hanover (6-0), Weymouth (4-0) and Malden Catholic (3-0) in addition to a 2-2 tie with Belmont and a 2-1 overtime win over Archbishop Williams. Callie Crean scored twice against Archies and Weymouth, while three different skaters scored against MC, including Maggie Pollenz, who had the go-ahead score. The Harborwomen won't catch a break when they play their fourth game in six days in a New Year's Day matchup with No. 9 Westwood.

HPNA cracked the top five, jumping three spots, as it remains undefeated, going 3-0-1 since our previous top 10. The Lions settled for a 3-3 tie with NDA after leading in the third period. Nevertheless, it was a big result as Chris Hinchcliff continued to shine with 42 saves, while Charlotte Woodford scored twice and Mia Kmiec added another. The latter two have been red-hot. Kmiec scored a pair while Woodford had three points (one goal) in an 8-1 win over Newburyport, and Woodford scored twice as Kmiec had three points (one goal) in a 4-3 win over Nauset/Monomoy. Woodford followed it up with a hat trick in a 4-2 win over Woburn. She and the Lions have a shot to keep rolling in the new year, but it won't be easy against a high-scoring Boston Latin squad.

The Cougars improved one spot, keeping their unbeaten run going in a 2-0-3 stretch since our last rankings. The double-overtime Tenney Cup loss to Duxbury went down as a tie in the MIAA records, and NDA bounced back with a 2-0 win over Bishop Feehan, behind two goals from Abby Gropman and a stout shutout from Erin Kral. NDA also took down Archies, 3-1, and Boston Latin, 5-0, in addition to a 3-3, comeback tie with HPNA. Gropman scored twice against HPNA, while Chase Harmon had two assists. Their line kept rolling against Archies, as Harmon scored twice in addition to a goal for Gropman. The Cougars will visit Sandwich on Saturday before a key test on the road at MC next week.

Next game: vs. Notre Dame (Hingham), Jan. 7, 5 p.m.
The Lancers slid out of the top five after a rocky, 1-2-0 stretch at the Tenney Cup, which followed a 4-2 win over Nauset/Monomoy. They bounced back from being shut out by Hingham and Feehan with a 2-1 win over Sandwich, thanks to goals from Abbie Poole and Kate Rynak. Poole also scored against Nauset/Monomoy, while Nevin Mustone had a goal and an assist. Maggie Boudreau scored in the win, too, before adding an assist against Sandwich. MC has a brief layoff before a key bout with NDA next Wednesday.

8. St. Mary’s (4-0-0)

Next game: at Bishop Feehan, Jan. 3, 3 p.m.
The Spartans got their season started with a bang, ripping off four straight wins. They shut out Arlington Catholic (1-0) and Gloucester (4-0) before a 4-1 win over Pope Francis and a 3-1 victory over Central Catholic. Victoria Swim scored her first varsity goal against Central, and Camdyn Driscoll picked up her first career tally against Gloucester. Emma Doucette had a hand in all four goals against Gloucester with two goals and two assists. SMH will face a hungry Bishop Feehan squad on Saturday as it looks to keep rolling.
9. Westwood (4-0-0)

Head coach: Lauren Hillberg
Next game: at Hingham, Jan. 1, 3 p.m.
Westwood cracked the top 10 after racking up four dominant wins to open the season, scoring at least five goals in each and pitching three shutouts. Bridget Lewis scored a pair in a 5-0 win over Norwood and a 5-0 win over Hopkinton. She was among six different scorers in a 6-1 win against Longmeadow, along with Erin Gannon, who had a goal and an assist against Norwood, and Abby Presley, who had two assists against Norwood. Presley also had two goals and an assist in a 5-0 win over Falmouth for the Falmouth Holiday Tournament Title. Needless to say, the Wolverines are rolling and getting contributions throughout the lineup. They'll be thrown to the wolves in a key head-to-head with Hingham to ring in 2026.
10. Pembroke (6-1-0)

Next game: at Norwood, Jan. 10, 3 p.m.
Pembroke also entered the top 10 for the first time this season, dominating its schedule in the early going. The Titans have had no trouble scoring. They've knocked off NSA (5-1), Dennis-Yarmouth (6-2), Marshfield (3-0), Weymouth (4-0), East/West Bridgewater (6-1) and Falmouth (5-3). They also gave Duxbury hell in a 4-3 overtime loss. Junior Addi Nee and eighth-grader Emma Nee have been sensational in the early going, as has senior Hannah D'Angelo. Addi Nee and D'Angelo each had a pair against Falmouth, and Emma Nee also scored. The Nees also scored twice against East/West Bridgewater after Emma had two and Addi had another against Weymouth. D'Angelo also scored twice against Marshfield. Mia Dunphy has had a strong start in the crease, too. Pembroke is off until a visit to Norwood next Saturday.
