After putting an end to their three-game skid on Tuesday night, the Monarchs will host the Worcester Sharks tonight at 7 o’clock. The two teams split their first two matchups, the last of which saw the Sharks earn a 1-0 victory in the shootout on Nov. 4. Captain John McCarthy (Andover, Mass.) had the winning strike for Worcester.
History lesson
Happy 77th birthday to former Bruins goaltender Eddie Johnston. The Montreal native’s 180 victories with the B’s rank fifth on the club’s all-time list. Johnston, a Bruin from 1962-73, was part of the ’70 and ’72 championship squads. His best NHL season came in 1970-71 when he went 30-6-2 for Boston.
