What’s one thing most people don’t know about you? “My mom taught me how to skate. She was actually a student at Northern Michigan, and she would take me between classes.”

Do you have any phobias? “I’m so afraid of spiders. Snakes, everything I’m fine with, but throw a spider in front of me, and I’m running in the opposite direction.”

If you could hang out with any celebrity, who would it be? “Bill Dance or Charlie Moore, I love fishing — it would be awesome to fish with those guys. Hopefully I could teach them a thing or two. As soon as I got drafted, (being on Charlie Moore’s show) was one of my goals.”

What’s your favorite thing to do in Providence away from the rink? “Fishing, yeah, Rhode Island’s the Ocean State, and there’s so much water, but so is going to the beach with my wife and daughter.”

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you on the ice? “When I first started playing, I think I was a Mite, I got a penalty, and I cried so hard that another kid on my team sat in the penalty box for me.”

If you could be a superhero, who would you be and why? “Batman, just because he has so many cool vehicles I’d love to drive. It would be pretty sweet to hang out in his lair.”

If they made a movie about your life, who would play you? “I don’t even know how to answer that. My favorite actor is Adam Sandler, but he would not play me.”
