Hangin’ Out With: Devils goalie Cory Schneider

By Jesse Connolly

What’s the coolest piece of hockey memorabilia you own?
“I’m not a huge collector, but someone gave me an autographed Mike Richter card as a gift. I’ve collected a few jerseys from guys I’ve played with and things like that.”

If you could be on any reality show, which would you choose?
“My wife thinks we’d win ‘The Amazing Race.’ We don’t really watch it, but we think we’d be able to figure it out.”

What kind of car do you drive?
“I have an Audi A7 that I just got last summer, then I have a Toyota 4Runner. It was the first car I bought after I signed.”

If you could hang out with any celebrity, who would it be?
“Will Ferrell. He makes me laugh every time, so I feel like that’d be a lot of fun.”

Which teammate has the worst taste in music?
“He’ll probably be mad about this, but Ryan Kesler liked to listen to hardcore rap. Sometimes it’s good if it’s the right time, but all the time gets to be a little much.”

What’s the best/funniest nickname anyone’s ever given you?
“In college, some guys started calling me Schneidzilla.”

If someone made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you?
“I don’t think it’d be a redhead, ’cause that’s a little too obvious. Maybe Channing Tatum ’cause the ladies love him.”

If forced to do karaoke, what song would you pick?
“I’ve learned a lot of the words to ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’ by Billy Joel. That would be a good challenge.”

If it weren’t for hockey, what line of work would you have gotten into?
“I’d like to think I have a few options, but I’d probably do something in finance. That’s what I got my degree in at BC.”

Movie: “I’ve got a lot of them, but I think an old classic like ‘Dumb and Dumber’ has to be up there.”

Band/artist: “I like country a lot, but my favorite band of all time is Green Day. My brother bought me ‘Dookie’ when I was about 8 years old.”

Casino game: Blackjack

Road city: “I love California. For the East, Nashville is a lot of fun with the live music and the rinks right where all the action is. It’s a fun town to walk around in.”

NHL player growing up: “I grew up a Bruins fan, so Ray Bourque was probably my favorite at the time.”

Restaurant: “Does Dunkin’ Donuts count as a restaurant? I’ll say that.”

Video game: “All time, a lot of players will say it but NHL ’94 for Sega Genesis.”

Sports jersey (other than your own): “I always liked the Blackhawks uniforms. I like the colors and stuff. In another sport? Call me a homer, but the Patriots are pretty good.”

Home red or road white: “I always like red in uniforms, but I have white equipment so the white on white looks pretty good.”

Street clothes or suit and tie: “I’m more of a street clothes guy.”

“Modern Family,” “Sons of Anarchy” or “The Walking Dead”: “I watch them all, but ‘Sons of Anarchy.’ ”

Letterman, Leno or Conan: Conan

Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks or Tim Horton’s: “Dunkies for sure.”
