NEWS & NOTES

* The Bruins saw an 8-1-1 run kicked where the sun don't shine Wednesday, as they fell by a score of 6-1 to the host Red Wings.

* The Blueshirts have won three of four since their 2-1 loss on Nov. 19 to Boston. Their last outing was a 5-2 victory on home ice over Tim Thomas and the Panthers Wednesday.

* Dennis Seidenberg is "looking good" for a return to the lineup today, per coach Claude Julien. He's been out since the aforementioned game on Broadway with a lower-body injury.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

* What we saw from these two teams 10 days ago is basically what you can always expect from a Rangers-Bruins game: few goals, a slow, grinding tempo and most likely a fight involving Derek Dorsett and either Greg Campbell or Shawn Thornton. Don't expect today to be much different.

* If the Bruins want to beat the Blueshirts today, the numbers indicate that scoring first will go a long way toward that. New York is 12-1-0 when they score first, but 1-11-0 when they don't. That .083 win percentage in the latter situation puts them dead last in the NHL when trailing first.

* The B's had a closed-door meeting after practice Thursday, surely to discuss the manner in which the Wings mopped the floor (ice?) with them the night prior. Look for Boston to have its skating game and intensity going -- two critical elements of their game that were nowhere to be found in Motown.
