NEWS & NOTES

FUN FACTS

Carl Soderberg (3 pts last 3 GP)

Reilly Smith (3 pts last 3 GP)

Zdeno Chara (0 pts last 4 GP)

Dougie Hamilton (0 pts last 7 GP)

* After leading the Bruins with 18 goals in 2012-13, Brad Marchand's got just three tallies through 22 tilts.

Drayson Bowman (2 pts last 2 GP)

Andrej Sekera (2 pts last 2 GP)

Jiri Tlusty (0 pts last 5 GP)

Justin Faulk (0 pts last 8 GP)

* Following an electric, 23-goals-in-48-games season last year, Jiri Tlusty has tallied just three times through 22 games.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

* The Bruins took care of business down in Raleigh, beating the 'Canes putrid offense and a rusty Cam Ward. Carolina showed some fight in their loss out in Detroit, but the fact remains they're far worse on the road than they are on home ice, as they've allowed 32 goals in just nine tilts as the away team. Boston has to take advantage of that.

* Chad Johnson gets the nod in this one and rightly so. Tuukka Rask just made three starts in four nights, and the B's are playing a vastly inferior foe. Claude Julien is wisely letting No. 40 rest up for Monday's game against the Penguins.

* After getting goals from Dan Paille and Shawn Thornton in New York, the Merlot line kept the good times rolling Thursday, as Greg Campbell had the opening marker against the Blues. Can they keep it going? Thornton has scored five times in 23 games lifetime against the 'Canes, so don't be surprised if No. 22 leads the charge for the B's fourth line.
