NEWS & NOTES

* The Blue Jackets are in a major funk and own a 1-5-1 record in their last seven games. They blew a 3-2 lead in the third down in D.C. on Tuesday, falling 4-3 in the shootout.

* The B's will look to extend their winning streak to four games. In their last three victories, the Bruins have outscored their opponents 10-2.

FUN FACTS

Jarome Iginla (2 pts last 2 GP)

Reilly Smith (5 pts last 5 GP)

Torey Krug (4 pts last 4 GP)

Carl Soderberg (3 pts last 9 GP)

Milan Lucic (2 pts last 6 GP)

* Reilly Smith notched his first NHL assist for the Stars in a 5-4 win over the Blue Jackets on Feb. 26, 2013.

* Jarome Iginla comes into the game with 51 points in 47 career games against Columbus.

James Wisniewski (3 pts last 2 GP)

Cam Atkinson (3 pts last 2 gP)

Fedor Tyutin (3 pts last 4 GP)

Nikita Nikitin (0 pts last 5 GP)

Blake Comeau (0 pts last 6 GP)

* Winger Cam Atkinson (Greenwich, Conn.) is tied for the team lead with five goals on the year. The 5-foot-7 forward led BC with 31 goals as a junior in 2010-11 before turning pro.

* During his last trip to the playoffs in 2011 with Montreal, James Wisniewski got in a fight with Bruins defenseman Shane Hnidy during Game 2 of the Bruins and Habs' first-round series.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

* The Blue Jackets haven't fared so well in their first season as a member of the Eastern Conference. Sergei Bobrovsky has struggled in the early going after winning the Vezina Trophy last season. He owns a 2.84 goals-against average overall and a 3.10 in seven road tilts.

* Not surprisingly, given the numbers outlined above, the Blue Jackets' PK has been pretty putrid away from their home rink. Columbus has the worst penalty kill on the road in 2013-14 so far (68.2%), as they've allowed seven tallies on 22 man advantages. Boston's improving power play should be able to take advantage of this.

* It would hardly surprise me to see him come to life tonight, as he had plenty of success against Boston while a member of the Rangers, but Marian Gaborik's been ice cold of late. The 31-year-old winger has no goals and just one assist in his last seven contests. Gaborik's averaged 3.5 shots per game on the road, compared to just 2.0 on home ice. Expect him to get a few good bids tonight on Chad Johnson, who's making his third start of the year and his first at TD Garden in the regular season.
