History lesson
On this day in 1992, the Rangers scored four goals in the third period and rookie Alexei Kovalev notched his first career hat trick, leading New York to a 6-5 victory over the visiting Bruins. Mike Gartner also had a pair of goals for the Blueshirts. Steve Heinze had a pair of tallies for the B’s. Andy Moog allowed all six goals in 36 shots.
Entirely off-topic
Last week, Tim Tebow watched as the QB below him on the depth chart got the start in place of the mind-numbingly awful Mark Sanchez. Now, with third-stringer Greg McElroy hurt, Jets coach Rex Ryan is turning back to Sanchez – essentially shoving a pair of middle fingers right in Tebow’s face. It’s a shame one of the most comically disastrous seasons in NFL history will be coming to a close soon.
