Good reads

  • If you’ve got, oh, a million dollars or so lying around and love hockey, America and things of that nature, I suggest you enter the bidding for Mike Eruzione’s (Winthrop, Mass.) 1980 Olympic memorabilia.

  • CSNNE’s Jimmy Toscano catches up with Mavs owner Mark Cuban, who says the NHL’s chance to fix the league is now.

  • Cool feature from the Wall Street Journal on Patrick Kane – Tyler Seguin’s teammate in Europe – the Blackhawks’ world-renown party boy who’s chilling in Switzerland with his mom of all people during the lockout.

Quick hits

  • Harry Sateri stopped 36-of-38 for the Sharks last night, but his strong performance went to waste in a 2-1 loss to the Whale. Connecticut’s J.T. Miller had a goal and an assist.

History lesson

  • On this day in 1990, the Bruins punched the Whalers in the throat, lifted them up in the air and snapped them in two like a brittle chicken bone. OK, it wasn’t that extreme, but an 8-2 victory is one serious whooping. Boston got goals from – I kid you not – eight different scorers. Ray Bourque and Craig Janney had four assists each. Ulf Samuelsson (ugh) scored one of Hartford’s two goals.

Today on NEHJ

  • Busy day ahead. We’ve got Kat Hasenauer Corentta latest Women’s Journal, this week’s Atlantic Hockey Journal from Allen Lessels and Ed Flaherty’s first High School Journal of the 2012-13 campaign.

Entirely off-topic

  • Here’s the first line of the second paragraph in today’s off-topic story, which details a plot to murder Justin Bieber: “A plan to kidnap and castrate the pop star at a Madison Square Garden performance last month in New York has been foiled by authorities.”
