Good reads

  • Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said he thinks there “still will be a deal” and that we’ll see NHL hockey in 2013.

  • Meanwhile, the players’ association moved one step closer to dissolving. Whee!

  • Patrice Bergeron and Tyler Seguin will be teaming up next week for … (dramatic pause) … Team Canada in the Spengler Cup. Womp, womp, womp.

Quick hits

  • In AHL action last night, Kris Newbury had two goals and an assist to lead the Whale to a 5-2 win over the Monarchs. For Connecticut, it’s just their third victory in the last 10 games.

  • In Providence, the B’s and Sharks combined for seven goals in the third period. Worcester had the last laugh, tying things up on a John McCarthy (Andover, Mass.) goal with 6:48 to go before Jon Matsumoto buried the game-winner with 11 seconds remaining in regulation, giving the Sharks a 5-4 victory.

History lesson

  • On this day in 2007, the Bruins lost by a score of 4-1 to the Blues. Rookie Milan Lucic dazing Barret Jackman in a fight was the lone highlight.

Entirely off-topic

  • Up until about three and a half minutes ago, I had no idea what Snapchat was. But now I have some sort of clue, and I also know that the always moral folks at Facebook are ripping it off with the Poke (tee-hee, poke!) app in an attempt to obviously dominate the disappearing dirty photos market. What a world we live in.
