Twenty minutes are in the books at the Garden where the Bruins and Capitals are scoreless.
It was a wildly uneventful period until the 14:00 mark. Jason Chimera charged in behind the Bruins' net and obliterated Adam McQuaid.
Along with some assistance from Greg Zanon and trainer Don DelNegro, McQuaid was helped off the ice and immediately headed down the tunnel holding his face.
Chimera was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct, sending Boston on a lengthy power play. The B's put four pucks on net during the man advantage but couldn't cash in.
Late in the first, starter Tomas Vokoun subtly suffered an apparent injury, causing coach Dale Hunter to send Michal Neuvirth in to replace him. Vokoun had missed the previous five tilts with a groin injury.
