Final: Boston 2, Phoenix 1

Recap: The Bruins showed no signs of any fatigue after traveling back from Montreal last night, jumping out to a 2-0 lead over Phoenix. Zdeno Chara made it a 1-0 game, capitalizing on a Keith Yandle (Milton, Mass.) turnover and wristing a shot past Mike Smith. Jarome Iginla made it a two-goal game when he redirected a shot by Johnny Boychuk past Smith with 2:29 left in the period.

After a scoreless second period that featured a grand total of five shots between the two teams, the Coyotes cut Boston's lead in half a litle over eight minutes into the third on a tip-in by forward Lauri Korpikoski. That, however, was as close as the 'Yotes would get. They pulled Smith late but couldn't net the tying tally.

Records: Boston (44-17-5, 93 points); Phoenix (31-25-11, 73 points)

Key Play of the Game: With a little over three minutes to go, Phoenix center Antoine Vermette had Rask dead to rights. Carl Soderberg stepped in and swept his shot out of the crease just inches before it reached the goal line.

Connolly's Commendations: While Soderberg may have had the save of the night, Rask certainly came up with plenty of big ones of his own. No. 40 denied Shane Doan on a late Phoenix power play. In the second period, he stopped the Coyotes captain on a breakaway. Rask finished with 17 saves on 18 shots.

While they may not have registered a point, Boston's top two centers did some serious work at the dot. David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron combined to win 20-of-28 faceoffs.

Connolly's Critiques: Outside of putting the home crowd to sleep in the second period, we'll spare the B's from being raked over the coals here for any minor mistakes.

Notes: The win is Boston's seventh straight. ... The victory is Rask's 30th of the season.

Next: The Bruins will host the Hurricanes Saturday at TD Garden.
