Jimmy Hayes of BC signs with Blackhawks

Boston College junior forward Jimmy Hayes (Dorchester, Mass.) will forego his senior season at Boston College to pursue a professional career with the Chicago Blackhawks Hayes agreed to a three-year contract, which begins at the start of the 2011-12 season.

"We wish Jimmy the best of luck as he begins his professional career with the Blackhawks," BC coach Jerry York (Watertown, Mass.) said.  "Jimmy represented himself very well during his three years at Boston College and he will be missed."

The 6-foot-5, 220-poind Hayes played in all 39 games this winter. He tallied 33 points, including a career-high 21 goals. 

Hayes played in 117 career games at BC and totaled 81 points -- 42 goals and 39 assists – and was part of a national championship team in 2010.

He was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round (60th overall) of the

2008 NHL Entry Draft and was traded to the Blackhawks in July 2010.
