DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury Whalers CEO Herm Sorcher announced the first-year team's 2010-11 schedule Friday at the Danbury Ice Arena.
In the inaugural season of the Federal Hockey League, teams will play a 60-game schedule over a 20-week period beginning in late October.
The Danbury Whalers’ season gets underway on opening weekend when they host the New York Aviators on Oct. 29. This will be the first time since April 13, 1997 that a professional team named the Whalers will skate on Connecticut ice.
The following night, Oct. 30, the Whalers will again take on the Aviators. The 30-game home schedule breakdown for the Whalers includes nine games against New York, nine games against the Broome County Barons, and four games apiece against the Akwesasne Warriors, Rome Frenzy and 1000 Islands Privateers.
